CHAIRMAN LYNCH'S OPENING STATEMENT
PURPOSE
The Subcommittees will hold a joint hearing to examine how white supremacist extremism has become an increasingly global and transnational terrorist threat to U.S. national security. This hearing will also examine whether additional intelligence, law enforcement, or information sharing mechanisms can be deployed to counter the growing international threat of white nationalist terrorism.
BACKGROUND
The Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties has previously held two hearings on this topic. On May 15, 2019, the Subcommittee held a hearing that examined the rising threat of white supremacist violent extremism in the United States and the consequences of government inaction.
