Overseeing the Overseers: Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency @ 10 Years
CHAIRMAN CONNOLLY'S OPENING STATEMENT
PURPOSE
For the nation’s 74 inspectors general (IG), CIGIE examines and establishes IG best practices, assists agency heads and the President in finding qualified candidates for vacant IG positions, and conducts investigations into allegations of misconduct or wrongdoing by senior Office of Inspectors General employees, among other services.
The hearing will examine needed reforms, including increasing transparency, building collaboration across the inspector general IG community, and helping fill IG vacancies with qualified candidates.
