Chairwoman Maloney Speaks on House Floor in Support of Moving Forward Act
Washington, D.C. (June 30, 2020)—Today, Rep. Carolyn B. Maloney, Chairwoman of the Committee on Oversight and Reform, spoke on the House Floor in support of H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act.
This landmark legislation would invest billions of dollars in American infrastructure, including highways, bridges, schools, and housing, and propel America towards a greener future. The bill would also help modernize the U.S. Postal Service by funding public electric charging stations and new zero-emission mail vehicles and providing funds for other infrastructure improvements.
Below are Chairwoman Maloney’s remarks on the House Floor, as prepared for delivery:

H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act
June 30, 2020
I thank the Gentleman for yielding and for all of his hard work on H.R. 2, the Moving Forward Act. This is landmark legislation that would make investments not only in highways, transit, and bridges, but also for schools and housing.
Importantly, it would set America on the path toward a greener future by encouraging investment into zero emission technologies.
The bill would authorize $25 billion for the Postal Service — which has bipartisan support — to modernize its aging fleet. It is critical that the Postal Service begin replacing its aging fleet of mail trucks, most of which are now over 25 years old — and the bill includes $6 billion for this.
The bill would require the Postal Service to purchase zero-emission vehicles and to install publicly-accessible electric charging stations at Post Offices to help expand the infrastructure needed for electric vehicles.
These measures would help the Postal Service meet its mission and advance sound environmental policy.
I urge members to support H.R. 2 and yield back.
