Clyburn Applauds President Biden’s Plan to Combat the Coronavirus this Fall
Washington, D.C. (September 9, 2021) — Rep. James E. Clyburn, Chairman of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis, released the following statement in response to the Biden-Harris Administration’s six-point plan to combat the continued spread of the coronavirus:
“Under President Biden’s leadership during the coronavirus pandemic, our nation has made significant progress in saving lives and livelihoods. It has become increasingly clear that this new stage of the pandemic demands new steps, and I commend the Biden-Harris Administration’s comprehensive strategy to combat the crisis this fall. Today’s announcement charts a clear path forward through increased vaccination, expanded access to rapid testing, improved care for those infected with the virus, additional support for small businesses, and cooperation across the public and private sectors and with our international partners.
“Coronavirus vaccines have been proven to be incredibly safe and remarkably effective. Nevertheless, far too many Americans remain unvaccinated, and many communities are continuing to suffer as a result. I strongly support the President’s plan to increase vaccinations and testing, which will help to protect all Americans. I particularly commend the Biden-Harris Administration for implementing commonsense measures to protect the safety of teachers, students, and staff in America’s schools, which will help to ensure that classrooms remain open for learning. These initiatives are critical steps forward in our efforts to overcome this devastating pandemic.”
