Subcommittee to Hold Hearing on Federal Guidelines for Reopening Government Workplaces
Washington D.C. (June 22, 2020)— On Thursday, June 25, 2020, at 10:00 a.m., Rep. Gerald E. Connolly, the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Government Operations, will hold a hearing on federal guidelines for reopening government workplaces. The hearing will examine how the government can protect federal employees while continuing operations and providing vital resources to the public.
The federal government is the largest employer in the United States, with more than 2.5 million federal public servants and an estimated 3.7 million federal contractors.
While the coronavirus pandemic has shuttered organizations and businesses across the country, federal workers have continued to serve the public and provide critical services either on the frontlines or teleworking from homes across the country and around the world. This hearing will highlight some of the feats accomplished by federal workers during the pandemic — including ensuring that the American people received the new benefits Congress authorized.
This hearing will also address provisions that Chairman Connolly plans to introduce as stand-alone legislation to protect the health and safety of civil servants who continue to serve the public every day during this unprecedented time.
