PURPOSE:
- To provide an opportunity for Members to lead an open and constructive dialogue with leaders in the Olympic and gymnastic community about ways to move forward while protecting our nation’s athletes.
BACKGROUND:
- In February 2018, the Committee opened an investigation into the U.S. Olympic Committee, USA Gymnastics, and related organizations and individuals following the revelation of sexual abuse of athletes going unreported.
- The investigation focused on process failures, which led to widespread and persistent sexual abuse, and the lack of policies, procedures, and processes, which could lead to future abuses.
