USAID: Following the Money
Subcommittee on National Security, Homeland Defense and Foreign Operations, Chairman Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah

The Subcommittee will examine U.S. Agency for International Development’s efforts to measure, monitor, and account for taxpayer dollars spent around the world through U.S. foreign assistance programs. USAID Administrator Rajiv Shah and USAID Inspector General Donald Gambatesa will testify.


Transparency as an Alternative to the Federal Government’s Regulation of Risk Retention
Subcommittee on TARP, Financial Services, and Bailouts of Public and Private Programs, Chairman Patrick McHenry, R-NC

The hearing will examine recently issued federal regulations that securities issuers retain a portion of the credit risk in any asset-backed security they sell, and examine proposals to make the securities more transparent as a better approach to protecting investors and taxpayers.

The subcommittee will look at the declining volume of first class mail and the challenges the U.S. Postal Service faces today and as it plans for its future.


Politicizing Procurement: Will President Obama’s Proposal Curb Free Speech and Hurt Small Business?

The hearing will explore the concern that President Obama’s proposed an executive order requiring contractors to disclose political contributions will inject politics into the procurement process, violate free speech, and increase costs for small businesses that will ultimately be passed on to the taxpayer. This hearing will be a joint hearing with the House Committee on Small Business.

Department of Homeland Security Financial Management
