Comer Announces Hearing to Examine ONDCP’s Effort to Combat America’s Drug Overdose Crisis
WASHINGTON – House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) will hold a hearing titled “Oversight and Reauthorization of the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).” This full committee hearing will examine ONDCP’s role in combatting the drug overdose crisis at a time when the toll on American communities is especially high. In addition, the hearing will enable members to conduct oversight over ONDCP’s role and activities, as well as obtain information to inform reauthorization of ONDCP beyond September 30, 2023.
“Fentanyl and other drugs are fueling an unprecedented overdose crisis in this country. Over 100,000 people in America died of a drug overdose in 2022 alone.ONDCP is charged with coordinating a whole government approach to combat this crisis, including the implementation of the National Drug Control Strategy.
