Comer to Hold Hearing on Biden’s Border Crisis with U.S Border Patrol Agents

After threatening subpoenas, Mayorkas allows Border Patrol Chiefs to testify before Congress

WASHINGTON – House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) will hold a full committee hearing titled “On The Front Lines of the Border Crisis: A Hearing with Chief Patrol Agents,” to gather facts from U.S. Border Patrol witnesses who are working to secure the border in the wake of President Biden’s policies that have created the worst border crisis in American history. In a letter to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Chairman Comer highlights how DHS leadership sought to muzzle any Chief Border Patrol agents from testifying at the hearing, but reversed their position following Chairman Comer’s threat to use the compulsory process. Two U.S. Border Patrol Chief Patrol Agents, who also serve as Lead Field Coordinators for the border regions that include Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas, will testify.

“The Biden Administration’s radical open borders policies have ignited the worst border crisis in American history. Starting on day one in office, President Biden and his administration rolled back deterrent focused policies, halted the construction of the border wall, gutted interior enforcement, pushed amnesty for illegal immigrants – all of which have made it difficult for U.S. Border Patrol agents to secure the border,” said Chairman Comer. “Next week, we will hear firsthand from the Border Patrol about this humanitarian and national security crisis. Oversight Republicans are committed to holding the Biden Administration accountable for its dereliction of duty and look forward to hearing testimony from those on the ground battling this crisis.”
