Mace, Loudermilk to Hold Joint Hearing on D.C. Health Link Data Breach

WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) and Committee on House Administration Oversight Subcommittee Chairman Barry Loudermilk (R-Ga.) today announced an upcoming hearing titled “Data Breach at the D.C. Health Exchange.”

Last month, a D.C. Health Link data breach enabled hackers to post online confidential, personally identifiable information, and protected health information of tens of thousands of individuals receiving coverage through the D.C. Health Benefit Exchange Authority.

“The breach of D.C. Health link data put thousands of individuals at risk, including Members of Congress, congressional staff, and family members. The individuals who trusted the D.C. Health Exchange to keep their personal health data secure are rightly concerned about the potential consequences of this breach on their personal lives. They are relying on us to investigate how it took place, how it could have been avoided, how the fallout can be mitigated, and how to prevent a recurrence,” Subcommittee Chairs Mace and Loudermilk said.
