Scalise: President Biden’s Vaccine Plan is Republicans’ Vaccine Plan

WASHINGTON—Republican Whip and Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis Ranking Member Steve Scalise (R-La.) today applauded President Biden for following Republicans’ advice to set a new vaccine goal of administering 200 million vaccines in 100 days:

“Over two months ago, Republicans called on President Biden to set a more ambitious goal of administering 200 million vaccines in 100 days, and I’m glad he followed the roadmap we presented. Because of President Trump’s leadership creating the highly-successful Operation Warp Speed, the Biden Administration inherited contracts for hundreds of millions of doses for two approved vaccines and two that were in the final stage of clinical trials. When President Biden took office, the United States was already on the path to administer 100 million doses in 100 days, showing that his vaccine distribution plan was in fact President Trump’s plan. While White House Chief of Staff Ron Klain falsely claimed a vaccine plan ‘did not really exist,’ the truth is President Trump laid the groundwork for today’s achievement. President Biden ought to finally acknowledge the critical role President Trump played in creating Operation Warp Speed.”

On January 21, 2021, Scalise called on President Biden to develop a new plan to administer 200 million vaccines in 100 days.
