PURPOSE:
  • To discuss issues concerning Jerusalem and the U.S.-Israel relationship, including the upcoming relocation of the U.S. Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
BACKGROUND:
  • On November 8, 2017, the Subcommittee on National Security held a hearing to examine the benefits and challenges of relocating the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
  • On December 6, 2017, the Administration announced their intent to move the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem and officially recognize Jerusalem as the capitol of Israel.
