Comer: Republicans Have Brought Oversight and Accountability Back
Highlights Republicans’ Accomplishments in the First Year of the Majority
WASHINGTON— House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) today released the committee’s accomplishments for the first session of the 118th Congress. The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability held over 80 hearings this year with close to 70 government witnesses, sent over 350 investigative letters, and passed 22 bills, one of which was signed into law to block the D.C. Council’s soft-on-crime bill.
“Our Republican majority has restored the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability to its core duties: rooting out waste, fraud, and abuse in the federal government and holding the Biden Administration accountable. The Oversight Committee has ongoing investigations into the Biden family’s corrupt influence peddling, President Biden’s border crisis, the Biden Administration’s war on American energy, returning federal workers back to the office, gaps in America’s cyber readiness, COVID origins, and much more. This is a stark contrast to how the committee operated under Democrat control. Democrats refused to hold the Biden Administration accountable – leading a nonpartisan group to give Democrats an ‘F’ in oversight.
“The American people can expect us to keep fighting for them in Washington as we move into 2024. We will remain steadfast in our mission to hold government and the Biden Administration accountable, deliver answers and transparency to the American people, and build on the success and momentum of this past year,” said Chairman Comer.
