Mace Announces Hearing on Moving Toward an AI-Ready Workforce

WASHINGTON—Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) will hold a hearing titled “Toward an AI-Ready Workforce.” The hearing will assess the nation’s training pipelines leading into artificial intelligence (AI)-related jobs.

America’s world-leading position in AI bolsters our national security and economic prosperity, Maintaining that lead over international competitors like China as AI adoption accelerates depends on the global competitiveness of the nation’s AI workforce. This hearing will explore both traditional and alternative programs and pathways for education and credentials that prepare individuals to work in AI-related roles.

“It is critical for the U.S. to maintain its leadership position in the AI space over competitors such as China. Broad adoption of AI into offices, manufacturing plants, military operations and society at large is expected to accelerate in the coming years. This will disrupt workplaces, while creating many jobs and opportunities for both new workforce entrants and employees looking to retool and upskill. This hearing is an excellent opportunity to hear from experts about how we as a Nation are gearing up to meet the challenge of preparing Americans for work in the Age of AI,” said Subcommittee Chairwoman Mace.
