Maybe Democrats in Congress could make a much more compelling case to keep their jobs if they actually started doing it.
VISTA, CA – Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the Ranking Member of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, released the following statement today amid new reports that the U.S. economy lost 95,000 jobs in September as Gallup reports unemployment hitting 10.1% while the President seems preoccupied with “hand-to-hand combat” and congressional Democrats are preoccupied with keeping their jobs instead of creating them:
“If the President truly believes the Democrats can be so much more effective, why doesn’t he demonstrate some leadership and call on the Speaker to bring Democrats back from the campaign trail so that we can act on tax breaks for the American people, pass a budget and advance policies that will create jobs? Maybe Democrats in Congress could make a much more compelling case to keep their jobs if they actually started doing it.”
“The Democrats with their overwhelming Majority in Congress, who failed to pass a budget, take action on the 13 spending bills, took a month off in August, returned for three weeks in September and adjourned for October without taking action on tax breaks for all Americans – and the President is saying it’s the Republicans who will bring Washington to a halt? Gallup has unemployment rising to 10.1 percent, the economy shed another 95,000 jobs and in what can only be categorized as an act of political desperation or delusion, the President is trying to convince the American people that if Republicans regain the Majority in Congress, we’ll spend the next two years in ‘hand-to-hand’ combat gridlock?”
