Whistleblower Protection Bill Heads to President for Signature

WASHINGTON – Late yesterday, the Senate approved by unanimous consent the House-amended Whistleblower Protection Enhancement Act (S. 743). The legislation closes loopholes in existing whistleblower protection law and expands coverage of current protections. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee and sponsor of the House bill offered the following statement:

“The Senate’s passage of the House amended version of the Whistleblower Protection Act will offer additional protections to those looking to stop waste, fraud, and mismanagement in government. This bicameral and bipartisan effort sends a clear message that Congress stands behind those federal employees who help us protect the American people and their hard-earned tax dollars. I encourage President Obama to sign the law as soon as possible.”
