Chairman Issa says: “I had hoped that after this evening’s meeting I would be able to tell you that the Department had delivered documents that would justify the postponement of tomorrow’s vote on contempt. The Department told the Committee on Thursday that it had documents it could produce that would answer our questions. Today, the Attorney General informed us that the Department would not be producing those documents. The only offer they made involved us ending our investigation."

Chairman Issa, Senator Grassley, and Attorney General Holder have agreed to meet this evening at 5 p.m. in the Capitol to discuss Fast and Furious documents and contempt.

American patients and doctors currently confront an unprecedented shortage of critical drugs. The drugs in shortage are mostly generic injectable medications, many of which have been on the market for decades. Information obtained by the Committee shows that the crisis was largely sparked by actions of the Food and Drug Administration.

Chairman Darrell Issa (R-CA) said the Committee has learned that FDA regulatory activity has effectively shut down 30% of the total manufacturing capacity at four of the country's largest producers of generic injectable medications.
