TSA: Security Gaps
PURPOSE:
• To explore with the agency’s new leadership the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) challenges and planned responses.
• To provide members an open dialogue with TSA to discuss potential solutions to gaps in aviation security.
BACKGROUND:
• TSA oversees passenger checkpoint screening through a variety of screening technologies at approximately 440 airports across the country.
• The Inspector General (IG) conducted a covert investigation at eight different airports of different sizes. When issuing its assessment of TSA’s passenger screening technologies and processes at airport security checkpoints, the IG testified that layers of security were missing.
