Chairman Chaffetz Names New Committee Staff Director

WASHINGTON–Today, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) announced the promotion of Jonathan Skladany to Staff Director, after previous Staff Director Jennifer Hemingway shared her transition to the Speaker’s office:

“Jon has been an integral part to this committee since first joining in 2009. He’s as smart as they come and a gifted individual who will lead this committee in the right direction. I can’t wait to get started and solve the big challenges facing our federal government with him at my side.

“I am extremely thankful for Jennifer’s service and leadership to the committee. She guided the committee with great talent and incredible dedication. I wish her all the best in her new role with the Speaker’s office. She will be an incredible asset to him and his team,” Chairman Chaffetz said.

Jon has served on the committee since 2009, most recently as Senior Counsel. He has been an integral part of several of the committee’s high-profile investigations, including Countrywide’s VIP loan program, ATF’s Operation Fast and Furious, and the State Department’s response to the attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi. He has served as the committee’s liaison to the community of federal inspectors general and as the point person for drafting and issuing subpoenas. Prior to joining the committee, Jon worked as an attorney in a Washington, D.C.-based firm specializing in industrial construction litigation.
