WASHINGTON, DC – Today, House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy announced Rep. Steve Russell will serve as the Committee’s National Security Subcommittee Chairman.
“Rep. Russell is a tireless worker, served our country with great distinction in the United States Army, and is respected on both sides of the aisle for his preparation, intelligence, and willingness to address challenging issues,” said Chairman Gowdy. “His willingness to travel abroad to confront problems firsthand coupled with his service on the House Armed Services Committee make him the ideal choice to lead.”
“As I witnessed firsthand through my service and deployments in the Army, threats to our national safety are both imminent and very real,” Rep. Russell said. “I am so grateful to Chairman Gowdy for selecting me for this position. I look forward to working with him and the committee to protecting our country for the good of the American people.”
