Comer & Jordan Request Interview with Hollywood Producer Who Introduced Hunter Biden to His Art Gallerist and Kevin Morris
WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) and House Committee on the Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) today are calling on Lanette Phillips to appear for a transcribed interview as part of the House’s impeachment inquiry. Lanette Phillips, a Hollywood producer, introduced Hunter Biden to his art gallerist, Georges Bergès, as well as Kevin Morris, a Hollywood lawyer and Democrat donor who has loaned Hunter Biden over $6.5 million.
According to witness testimony, Phillips introduced Hunter Biden to Morris at a fundraiser at her home for President Joe Biden in 2019. Shortly after Hunter Biden and Kevin Morris met at the Biden fundraiser, Morris began loaning Hunter Biden millions of dollars, only to formally document it nearly two years later. In addition, George Bergès has facilitated at least $1.5 million in sales of art by Hunter Biden, including purchases by Kevin Morris and Elizabeth Naftali, a Democrat donor. After Elizabeth Naftali purchased Hunter Biden’s art, she was appointed by President Biden as a Commission Member to the United States Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad.
“Given Hunter Biden’s long record of influence peddling, the Committees seek to understand whether Kevin Morris’s substantial financial support for Hunter Biden was intended to benefit, curry favor with, or gain access to Joe Biden. As the person who introduced Morris to Hunter Biden, the Committees believe that you have information relevant to that question,” wrote Chairmen Comer and Jordan. “The Committees must understand the nature of Hunter Biden’s art endeavor. Indeed, the high-dollar sales of paintings by a novice like Hunter Biden raise considerable suspicion given his years of peddling access to his father and capitalizing on the Biden name,” the Chairmen continued.
