Fallon to Hold Hearing on Critical Minerals
WASHINGTON—Subcommittee on Economic Growth, Energy Policy, and Regulatory Affairs Chairman Pat Fallon (R-Texas) today announced a hearing titled “Digging Deeper: Ensuring Safety and Security in the Critical Mineral Supply Chain” to review the importance of critical minerals for the U.S. economy, examine the national security implications of overreliance on foreign-sourced critical minerals, and discuss solutions to address worsening global supply shortages.
“Critical minerals are essential to the economy and to building important materials for medicine, everyday electronics, and military defense. As part of its radical climate agenda, the Biden Administration’s overreliance on foreign critical minerals – including from Russia and China – is a national security risk and places the United States in a vulnerable position amidst worsening global supply shortages. To protect our economy against another supply chain crisis, we need to find ways to increase critical mineral extraction and refining here in the United States,” Subcommittee Chairman Fallon said.
