Higgins’s Federal Law Enforcement Subcommittee Continues Oversight of Unaccompanied Alien Children Lost by the Biden Administration

WASHINGTON—Subcommittee on Federal Law Enforcement Chairman Clay Higgins (R-La.) today announced a roundtable titled “Catch and Release, Lose and Forget: Addressing the Crisis of Unaccompanied Alien Children—Part III.” This roundtable follows a previous hearing and roundtable on unaccompanied alien children (UACs) and builds on the subcommittee’s larger investigation into the Biden Administration’s border crisis and the policy decisions which directly contributed to the mass migration of UACs into the country and federal agencies’ failure to monitor their location and status once here. The Subcommittee has previously highlighted the humanitarian and legal dimensions of this crisis, and the upcoming roundtable will examine how cartels finance and profit from child trafficking across the southern border, as well as the role of Chinese money laundering networks in enabling this criminal enterprise. 

“The Biden Administration’s open border policies led to severe ramifications, in which unaccompanied alien children were destined to be trafficked and exploited by violent cartels. Child trafficking into the United States lines the pockets of some of the world’s most despicable criminal organizations, enabled by the Biden Administration’s destructive immigration policies. Troublingly, Chinese money laundering networks have become a significant enabler of this system, giving cartels a way to launder their proceeds and advance their operations. President Trump has taken decisive action to close our southern border, eliminating the flood of illegal immigrants entering our country. It is up to Congress to codify President Trump’s efforts and conduct essential oversight understanding that more work needs to be done to identify, locate, and protect these missing children,” said Subcommittee Chairman Higgins.
