Mace Announces Hearing on Securing the Federal Software Supply Chain

WASHINGTON—Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) will hold a hearing titled “Securing the Federal Software Supply Chain.” The hearing will examine vulnerabilities in the government’s processes for procuring IT (information technology) and OT (operational technology) goods and services. In recent years, a series of high-profile hacks by threat actors – including hostile foreign nations – have compromised major federal computer systems, exposing sensitive data.

“The federal government spends more than $100 billion on IT products and services annually. Core federal activities like student financial aid delivery and law enforcement rely heavily on information systems run by computer software. It is imperative that our federal supply chain is insulated from potential attacks by hostile foreign powers and domestic bad actors. This hearing is an opportunity to get clarity from experts on what is currently being done to protect the software supply chain – and what further steps can be taken.” said Mace.
