“[T]he Committee seeks information about a number of issues including outdated FOIA regulations, exorbitant and possibly illegal fee assessments, FOIA backlogs, the excessive use of exemptions, and dispute resolution services,” the Oversight leaders write.

“I wish Director Sullivan the best in his future endeavors,” said Chairman Issa. “When controversy occurred in his agency, he took swift action and responded to oversight with direct and forthright answers.

“While I wish Secretary Chu well in his future endeavors and respect his contributions to his country as a scientist, the direction the Department of Energy has taken under his leadership has been disconcerting."

In this hearing, the Committee will hear testimony from non-governmental organizations about the issues within the federal government that are contributing to waste and inefficiency.

“Our staffs have attempted to work with Treasury in a cooperative manner regarding our request and they have tried repeatedly to accommodate Treasury’s concerns about producing the documents, but Treasury refuses to be forthcoming with the Committees,” the letter states.

“Unfortunately, the ARB did not address some important questions about the attacks in Benghazi, which we believe may contain crucial lessons learned for other U.S. facilities abroad to follow,” the letter states.

“We’ve seen EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson’s ‘Richard Windsor’ e-mails, and now we have a regional administrator who appears to be dodging the agency’s mandatory recordkeeping policy,” said Vitter. “The American people have to be wondering where this will stop."
