House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa urges the Department of Labor to not dramatically alter the way jobs and employment data are reported to the public.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will hold a hearing next Wednesday to examine the influence of Department of Labor political appointees over the Bureau of Labor Statistics processes for collecting and disseminating employment data.

The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform will conduct two hearings Thursday to assess the Obama Administration’s record in implementing a domestic energy production program.

“It is suggestive and troubling that more than half a year has passed without DOI providing the requested documents and information. Our concern is heightened given the serious nature of the questions raised and the government’s pattern of indiscretion in providing government assistance to politically connected green energy companies such as Solyndra.”

Issa on Postal Service reform announcement: "The smallest 10,000 post offices collectively cost USPS less than $600 million dollars to operate each year. That is less than one-eighth of the $5 billion USPS spends each year to operate its network of 32,000 post offices. To achieve real savings creating long-term solvency, the Postal Service needs to focus on consolidation in more populated areas where the greatest opportunities for cost reduction exist."
