WSJ Opinion: Direct Payment Reveals Joe Biden Lied & Benefited from His Family’s Business Schemes
WASHINGTON—In an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, James Freeman outlines how new evidence uncovered by the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which traces money directly to President Biden, reveals Joe Biden benefited from his family’s influence peddling schemes. Last week, the Oversight Committee revealed that on the same day James and Sara Biden were wired $200,000 by distressed rural hospital operator Americore into their personal bank account, Joe Biden received a $200,000 direct payment from this same personal bank account.
Freeman notes that James Biden received these loans with the assumption that his family name and connections – the Biden “brand” – could open doors. “Whether the money to Joe Biden was the payment of a debt or just a payment, if it was enabled by the leveraging of his name then he did benefit from his family’s business ventures,” Freeman writes.
Key Excerpts:
Joe Biden lied to the American people when he said he had nothing to do with his family’s business dealings.
“Are the walls closing in on Joe Biden?
“Another revelation from House Republican investigators further undermines the president’s longtime claims that he was never involved in his relatives’ various schemes to trade on his name.”
Even if this was a personal loan repayment, it’s still troubling that Joe Biden’s ability to be paid back by his brother depended on the success of his family’s shady financial dealings.
“Whether the money to Joe Biden was the payment of a debt or just a payment, if it was enabled by the leveraging of his name then he did benefit from his family’s business ventures.
“Or are we supposed to believe that it’s pure coincidence that the two payments of $200,000 happened to occur on the same day–and that James Biden was so flush that he didn’t need the Americore money to pay Joe Biden but borrowed it anyway?”
