Joined Fox News to discuss NIH confirming dangerous, taxpayer funded Wuhan experiments

WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) joined “The Ingraham Angle” with Laura Ingraham to discuss the confirmation by the National Institute of Health (NIH) that taxpayer funds were used for dangerous gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. In a letter to the Oversight Committee, NIH confirmed EcoHealth funneled taxpayer dollars to Wuhan for coronavirus experiments and concealed the data and information from the U.S. government.

“This proves all along that American tax dollars were used to fund gain-of-function research in the Wuhan lab. The NIH knew this all along. Dr. Fauci misled the Committee at best and lied to the Committee at worst by saying tax dollars were never used for gain-of-function research,” said Ranking Member Comer.

“What Dr. Fauci and Director Collins are trying to do now is change the definition of gain-of-function research… They were taking coronaviruses and making them worse. They were genetically modifying it. That violates the terms of the taxpayer grant EcoHealth got.”

“Here is the bottom line: they knew all along that tax dollars were going to this lab. We wasted months of investigations trying to prove what they knew all along. They were doing risky experimental research that they shouldn’t have been doing. China is laughing at us and we have got to hold his administration accountable,” concluded Ranking Member Comer. 

With the ability to investigate any matter at any time, Committee Republicans will leave no stone unturned as we seek the truth for the American people about how their taxpayer dollars may been associated with the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.
