Comer Statement on Democrats’ Intent to Subpoena Owner of NFL Team

WASHINGTON — Today, House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) released the following statement on Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney’s (D-N.Y.) intent to subpoena the owner of the Washington Commanders, Dan Snyder.

“Democrats have not held a single hearing this Congress with a Biden Administration cabinet-level official, but Chairwoman Maloney intends to subpoena the owner of an NFL team. This is a misuse of congressional oversight authority and a dereliction of duty. Where is the hearing with Secretary Granholm about rising gas prices? Where is the hearing with Secretary Mayorkas about President Biden’s border crisis? Where is the hearing with Secretary Cardona about how Democrat lockdowns have set back a generation of children?

“The Oversight Committee’s sole responsibility is to hold the federal government accountable and root out waste, fraud, abuse, and mismanagement in the government. It’s shameful Democrats refuse to do their job and are wasting taxpayer dollars on a sham investigation into a single private organization. Democrats have abandoned the mission of the Oversight Committee and Americans are paying the price.”
