Comer: Supreme Court Must Protect Voice of American Citizens

WASHINGTON—House Committee on Oversight and Reform Ranking Member James Comer (R-Ky.) today released the following statement on the Supreme Court’s hearing on apportionment.

“The Supreme Court must ensure equal representation under our Constitution and the sanctity of our nation’s elections. One citizen, one vote. It’s a simple, straightforward concept to ensure proper representation in the U.S. Congress. Illegal aliens are not citizens and must not be included in the count for congressional representation. Counting illegal aliens would diminish citizens’ rights and potentially change congressional districts, which were created to ensure the voices of Americans from every corner of the country are heard and represented.

“Democrats want illegal aliens to be included in apportionment in order to further their radical left-wing agenda, even if it means diminishing and diluting citizens’ rights. As elected officials, it is our duty to stand up for the rights of Americans. I hope the Supreme Court abides by this same duty as they review this case.”
