Grothman Announces Hearing on Global Religious Persecution

WASHINGTON—Subcommittee on National Security, the Border, and Foreign Affairs Chairman Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) will hold a hearing titled “Faith Under Fire: An Examination of Global Religious Persecution.” The subcommittee hearing will explore the Biden Administration’s silence regarding religious persecution globally and scrutinize the persecution of religious minority groups by adversarial countries and groups.

“There has been an alarming uptick in the persecution of religious and ethnic minorities around the globe and the Biden Administration’s inaction in protecting these groups has led to devastating consequences. Christians in Nigeria and Iran, Uyghurs in China, or women in Afghanistan, all face increased threats and violence due to the Biden Administration’s foreign policy blunders which have emboldened cruel and theocratic regimes and leave the United States less secure. This subcommittee hearing will be a powerful opportunity to hear from experts on how global religious freedom impacts national security and what can be done to enhance protection for these persecuted factions,” said Subcommittee Chairman Grothman.
