Issa Calls for White House and Congress to Act on Boehner Economic Plan

WASHINGTON D.C. – Rep. Darrell Issa, the Ranking Member of the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, today called on the President and Congress to take immediate action supporting Republican Leader John Boehner’s (R-OH) proposal to bring government spending back to 2008 levels and freeze current tax rates before American families’ tax burden increases next year:

“The American people have watched as the government growth has exploded while private sector jobs have all but evaporated.  They don’t care that it’s an election year.  Quite frankly, the political calendar should not dictate our public policy agenda and Leader Boehner has put forward an economic plan that will provide meaningful relief to the working families who have been hit the hardest by this recession – there is no excuse for inaction.  Leader Boehner’s economic plan to reduce government spending and protect the working-class from rising tax rates is a common-sense proposal the White House and Congressional Democrats should aggressively support.”
