Mace Announces Hearing Exploring Risks and Rewards Posed by Artificial Intelligence

WASHINGTON—Subcommittee on Cybersecurity, Information Technology, and Government Innovation Chairwoman Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) will hold a subcommittee hearing titled “Advances in AI: Are We Ready For a Tech Revolution?”. This subcommittee hearing will explore ways the United States can harness and integrate AI technology to improve the lives of the American people while managing the inherent risk of AI becoming a tool for criminals and foreign adversaries.

“The next wave of technological advancement in our society will be driven by innovation stemming from artificial intelligence technology. We must ensure we’re prepared to leverage and integrate this cutting-edge technology to improve our service to the American people. Critical to achieving this mission is implementing guardrails to manage the social, moral, and ethical dilemmas surrounding AI while making sure innovation will not be stifled by government overreach and inaction. Subcommittee Republicans are focused on this goal and look forward to hearing from experts on the pitfalls and benefits of artificial intelligence,” said Subcommittee Chairwoman Mace.
