Wenstrup Extends Crucial Invitations to Second Hearing on COVID-19 Origins
WASHINGTON – Today, Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic Chairman Brad Wenstrup invited the Honorable John Ratcliffe, Former Director of National Intelligence, and Mr. David Feith, Former Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, to testify at a hearing titled “Investigating the Origins of COVID-19, Part 2: China and the Available Intelligence” on April 18, 2023 to examine China’s role in the origins of COVID-19 and the intelligence surrounding where COVID-19 originated.
The Honorable John Ratcliffe served as Director of National Intelligence from 2020-2021 where he advised the President during the COVID-19 pandemic on national security. Mr. Ratcliffe previously sat on the Intelligence, Judiciary, and Homeland Security committees as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 2015-2020.
Mr. David Feith served as U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific
Affairs during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically advising on U.S. relations with China.
Earlier this month, Chairman Wenstrup held the panel’s first hearing on the origins of COVID-19 which revealed new evidence that COVID-19 may have originated in a lab in Wuhan. The Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic will continue to follow the facts and investigate the origins of COVID-19 wherever it leads.
